| | the beginning Name: Laura Adonia Roslin Age: 55, born during Winter Solstice in 7014. The current President of the 12 Colonies was born to Laila and Adrian Roslin. She was the middle child, and had two sisters. The older one named Alessa and the younger, Cailey. Laura started fending for herself at a very young age. Both parents were teachers and tended to focus more on their classroom kids than their children at home. Never the less, they provided for their family and the children could never want for much. For Laura, books were her friends. She ran away from home once at the age of five to the library and was found curled up, surrounded by her favorite children's books. That stayed with her, and as she grew up, it was obvious that she was a bookworm. She was a solid straight 'A' student, but because of her habit of hanging out in the library, she was quickly labeled as 'the nerd'. It didn't help that she was gawky, had braces, and was a little clumsy. Her two older sister were gorgeous, which always made Laura feel a little shadowed on both ends. In college, she majored in Elementary Education and from there went to teach at Callidora Elementary School, teaching 1st grade. She loved her job and taught with a passion. Her efforts paid off, and at the age of 30, she was nominated as the Caprica City, Caprica teacher of the year. From there she became the President of the school board.

| | the middle As President, she spoke very frequently to members of the local government and she caught the eye of Richard Adar, a budding politician. He took to her, hiring her to be his campaign manager when he ran for governor of Caprica. When he won, he took Laura with him to over-see the local schools. Richard was married, but that didn't stop him from advancing on Laura, who by this time had grown into her own. She was gorgeous, and it didn't go unnoticed. Laura, however was still grieving from the loss of both parents and her sisters. Her mother dying from breast cancer, and her sisters and father dying in a car accident all within the same year. Eventually, Adar's affections and tendencies to buy her jewelry won out, and she began an affair which she today sees as the biggest regret of her life.
Years later, Richard Adar ran for President of the Colonies, and when he won, Laura was elected as the Secretary of Education - 43 spots removed from the President. Their affair turned sour when the teachers demanded more and Adar wouldn't deliver. With a looming strike, Laura was to resign from her position after attending the decommissioning ceremony of an aging Battlestar, the Galactica. Hours before she was scheduled to leave, she was told that she was dying from the same disease that had taken her mother. She had terminal breast cancer, with no more than six months to live.

| | the end? While on the Battlestar and trying to deal with the news of her diagnosis, the Cylons attacked the 12 planets, nuking them and killing all of humanity save for the 50,000 humans who had been on transport shuttles in space. The cylons had been created decades before, used to be slaves to the humans. The machines eventually started a thought process of their own and declared war on the humans. Eventually an armistice treaty was drafted, and for 20 years, the humans never heard a word. With the Cylon's evolution, came the ability to mimic human form. Twelve models were created with many copies to replace any that might die. Eleven have been revealed and six are known to Laura Roslin, who is now the President of the Colonies in a time of war. She commands with Admiral Adama, making decisions that will hopefully, one day lead them to their only salvation:
